Probing Plasmon-Induced Chemical Mechanisms by Free-Radical Nanophotopolymerization

چکیده

Localized surface plasmon-induced photopolymerization of free-radical acrylate monomers is an efficient, smart, and versatile method for preparing metal/polymer hybrid nanoparticles (NPs) with accurate control the thickness spatial distribution polymer on NP surface. Despite a growing number practical demonstrations, mechanism leading to polymerization monomer by localized plasmon resonance (LSPR) still controversial. It could be related either photochemical enhanced electromagnetic hot spots (enhanced near field) or thermoplasmonic (photothermal heating) electrochemical (via hot-carrier injection) mechanisms, as proposed in different studies. After developing high-resolution characterization based transmission electron microscopy tuning photopolymer composition irradiation conditions, LSPR-induced physicochemical revealed. We demonstrate that pathway main under mild conditions chosen this process. In more general way, proves powerful tool investigate coupling between metal nanostructures organic moieties.

Mechanisms of free radical-induced damage to DNA.

Endogenous and exogenous sources cause free radical-induced DNA damage in living organisms by a variety of mechanisms. The highly reactive hydroxyl radical reacts with the heterocyclic DNA bases and the sugar moiety near or at diffusion-controlled rates. Hydrated electron and H atom also add to the heterocyclic bases. These reactions lead to adduct radicals, further reactions of which yield num...

Mechanisms of the suppression of free radical overproduction by antioxidants.

In accordance with the mechanism of suppression of free radical overproduction in biological systems all antioxidants can be divided into two main groups: chain-breaking antioxidants and preventive antioxidants. Chain-breaking antioxidants, often referred to as free radical scavengers, protect against oxidative stress as a result of scavenging initial, peroxyl and rarely alkyl radicals. Prevent...

Free-radical mechanisms in tissue injury.

There are very many ways to injure and kill cells: amongst these is an important class of reactions dependent on the production of free radical intermediates to trigger an expanding network of multifarious disturbances (see Slater, 1972, 1979a). If we are to adopt rational approaches to the recognition and control of such disturbances, to develop effective protection against the types of injury...

Neurotoxins: Free Radical Mechanisms and Melatonin Protection

Toxins that pass through the blood-brain barrier put neurons and glia in peril. The damage inflicted is usually a consequence of the ability of these toxic agents to induce free radical generation within cells but especially at the level of the mitochondria. The elevated production of oxygen and nitrogen-based radicals and related non-radical products leads to the oxidation of essential macromo...

Free Radical Chemistry Enabled by Visible Light-Induced Electron Transfer

Harnessing visible light as the driving force for chemical transformations generally offers a more environmentally friendly alternative compared with classical synthetic methodology. The transition metal-based photocatalysts commonly employed in photoredox catalysis absorb efficiently in the visible spectrum, unlike most organic substrates, allowing for orthogonal excitation. The subsequent exc...
